Changes to Vaping Regulations

For those who may not know, the new laws for vaping by the Tobacco Products Directive come into effect on the 20^th of May. If you’re a SmokeMax customer, there’s a few things you’ll need to know about these regulations but don’t worry, we’re here to fill you in.

Firstly, it’s important to know that these new laws apply to businesses that makes or sells e-cigarettes only. However, as a user of e-cigarettes, this is going to impact your vaping experience with regards to the volume, quantities and strengths of e-liquids that you can buy from us. So let’s cut to the chase:

• All e-cigs and e-liquids must be registered by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency before they can be sold
• Maximum refill containers cannot exceed 10ml
• Maximum nicotine strength of 20mg
• Maximum tank capacity of 2ml
• E-liquid and e-cigarette packaging must be child resistant in design
• Some additives and colouring agents have been banned

What this means for you guys, especially hose new vapers coming from a heavy smoking habit, is that the highest strength of nicotine you can buy is 20mg instead of 24mg and there will be a change up in some of the e-liquid flavours we offer. But not to fear, our staff at SmokeMax are here to advise you of the appropriate strengths and flavours you may need to help you kick the habit effectively, despite these changes in regulations.

It’s also good to know that it’s not just e-cigarettes that are getting hit with new regulations. On May 21^st, 10 packs of cigarettes and smaller bags of roll your own tobacco will be banned and cigarettes will be sold in plain packaging to reduce any incentive to smoke. Additionally, by 2020, menthol cigarettes will be completely phased out. In the light of the EU trying to reduce the number of smokers, we think that it’s a good time to consider switching to vaping – a healthier and more cost-effective way to curb those nicotine urges.
